In Colorado, if you are not registered with political affiliation, you are given two ballots; one Democrat and one Republican. This forces you to vote along party lines even if you do not fully support either party.
Why not? Forcing people to vote along party lines is why we’re stuck in a two-party system as much as them being dominant and not allowing a third to become viable. There are times where someone may want to vote one a certain way for a given office, especially at a local level, and a different affiliation for a second party in another office.
I cannot think of a logical reason to force this voting scheme. It needs to change, desparately.
